On the 18th of july for the past three years,  CAS has honoured  Nelson Mandela’s legacy by addressing critical needs in the community. Mandela Day 2024 was a resounding success, bringing together over 200 volunteers for a morning filled with community spirit, generosity, and purpose.  In 2024, the  event was hosted in Houghton, where Illy Coffee generously provided cappuccinos to keep our volunteers energized, and The Kitchen Mafia catering company donated delicious snacks, adding warmth and hospitality to the day. The incredible atmosphere of collaboration and goodwill set the tone for impactful work.

Non-fiction Books

To complete the library at Oviston Primary, volunteers worked diligently to cover 400 non-fiction books in plastic, ensuring their longevity and preparing them for eager young readers.

Baby Packs

A total of 337 newborn baby packs and 75 premature baby packs were packed with essentials such as baby grows, toiletries, and soft blankets, offering vital support to mothers in impoverished communities.

Care and Pediatric Packs

Volunteers packed 200 care packs for the homeless and elderly, and 120 pediatric packs for children in government hospitals, each containing essential toiletries, treats, and toys to bring comfort and joy.

A Morning of Collaboration

The event highlighted the power of collective action. Corporates and donors contributed generously, providing items such as baby blankets, books, coloring books, crayons, baby toiletries, and baby grows. Production lines were efficiently organized, ensuring that every pack was neatly prepared and clearly labeled for distribution to the various organizations and communities they were destined to support.

The Impact of Mandela Day

The volunteers’ efforts and the generous contributions restored hope and dignity to hundreds of individuals, embodying Nelson Mandela’s values of compassion, unity, and action This year’s Mandela Day reinforced CAS’s mission to bring people together to address pressing needs in underserved communities, proving that when we work together, we can make a profound and lasting difference.
